APRS (Automated Position Reporting System) (Automated Packet Radio System) allows amateur radio operators to not only experiment with packet radio, but also to provide a service to the community, that can be used in times of emergency. At my location, I provide APRS services on HF and VHF bands allowing locations of vehicles, weather events and earthquakes among other things, to be located and tracked on a map. My gateway operates on the 40 meter band and VHF 2 meter band. All data from stations heard is fed to the APRS servers so that information can be displayed on the internet at aprs.fi.

My QTH is the New South Wales regional town of Gunnedah. You can see my station, my weather station and many other stations in this locality on this map. You may also see weather events such as storms and also bushfires
